Dallas Love

The first thing you notice about Dallas coming from Seattle is that people speak to each other. Strangers. They say hello and strike up conversations on the street like it's nothing.

The next thing is the distinct sense of a city struggling with racial and income inequalities. The haves and the have nots, those isolated in cars and those who are on the street.

But then you're on the train and someone calls out a guy carrying a bass guitar, and gets him to play a few strings for the passenger audience. It's Dallas love.

Art covers the neighborhood of Deep Ellum. Lining the streets are countless murals, vibrant and full of life. Live music is offered in nearly every restaurant and bar, and the food is inspired by the diversity of the area. From BBQ to Mexican to Indian cuisine, it does not disappoint.
